18-year-old Dies in Rollover Crash

An 18-year-old woman died this morning after falling asleep at the wheel in Berrien County.

Officers responded to a 911 call on the 2200 block of Linco Road in Lincoln Township after a passerby spotted the rolled-over vehicle.

WOOD-TV reports the driver was trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Angela Nitz-Leitch from Baroda.

After losing control of the vehicle, authorities say the car swerved onto the shoulder. When trying to get back on the road, that's when the vehicle rolled. According to WOOD-TV there were no witnesses to the crash, which remains under investigation.

Nitz-Leitch was a 2013 graduate of Lakeshore High School. The school's crisis response team has been notified to help students cope with her death.
