Armed Group Robs Plainfield Twp. Business

Kent County deputies were called to a Plainfield Township business on an armed robbery call in the noon hour.

Paul Medawar Fine Jewelers saw five armed men enter just before 12:30 p.m., according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department. One had a sack and all were armed, according to the first KCSD report. Detectives still hope for leads at (616) 632-6100.

A Northview Public Schools employee confirmed to WOOD Radio their lockdown of district buildings ended about one hour after the robbery.

A K-9 track had brought State Police vehicles to a neighborhood a short distance from the store, possibly pointing to another vehicle to flee the scene. Grand Rapids Police had staged cars near downtown hospitals as one of the group had apparently been wounded by a store employee.
