Authorities: Man, 60, Dies After Canoe Overturns

Authorities say a 60-year-old man has died after the canoe he was paddling overturned while he was going to pick up his sister in a state game area.

Marvin Coker reportedly tried to cross Haymarsh Lake in Mecosta County's Grant Township at dusk on Sunday to get his sister, who was hunting on the other side. The lake is at Haymarsh Lake State Game Area, about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids.

The sheriff's department says she spent the night in the woods when he didn't arrive and saw his overturned his canoe in the lake Monday.

Authorities say Coker wasn't wearing a life jacket.
