Ionia Co. Health Department Warns of Risks of Unlicensed Body Art

Ionia County's Health Department says it's aware of people offering tattoos and piercings without a state license.

Officials say risks of unlicensed body art include hepatitis, skin infections including MRSA, and allergic reactions to pigments and dyes.

Ionia County currently has one licensed body art facility, located in Orleans.

The Health Department asks people aware of individuals performing unlicensed body art within the community to contact a Health Department sanitarian at (616) 527-5341.
