Line Crews Get the Power Restored for Many

Consumers Energy company says it has almost 3,000 repair crews at work across the Lower peninsula where the Sunday ice storm cut a swath of downed trees and power lines from Lake Michigan, north and west to Flint and into the DTE electric company's territory in the the Thumb on the shors of Lake Huron.

The power company's Roger Morgenstern told Justin and Brent on WOOD Radio's West Michigan's Morning News this morning that almost all the power has been restored in the Grand Rapids area.

"We do expect to have the greater Kent County, Grand Rapids area restored by the end of the day today," said Morgenstern, who counted only 732 homes in the dark around 7 a.m.

He said the statewide total for Consumers Energy was 88,629 still powerless.
