Lowell Residents Protest MERC Union Ruling's Appeal

There was standing room only at the Lowell city council meeting Monday night as a dozen people told city council not to spend their tax dollars appealing a ruling from the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.

A MERC administrative law judge had said the city manager was union-busting in unfair treatment of union members, but the Lowell City Council stands behind manager Mark Howe in appealing this ruling to the full MERC Commission.

Howe told WOOD TV that he feels supported by a Detroit News editorial that had labeled that particular judge as "notoriously" pro-union.
