Michigan to Attempt Cutting Red Tape Further

State officials have launched another effort to make Michigan more business friendly.

Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley says the new initiative called Reinventing Performance in Michigan will cut the number of government forms required by Michigan businesses in half.

Other goals of the initiative are to improve satisfaction with the regulatory process by 25 percent, show a 50-percent improvement in customer response and to ensure regulatory materials are actually needed and utilized.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs said the first phase of this program concluded in July and saw massive improvements in permit processing and other bureaucratic functions.
