Newest U.S. Aircraft Carrier Christened Today

A brand new US Navy aircraft carrier is being christened today.

And it's named in honor of the only Michigan man to serve as President of the United States, Gerald R- Ford. The USS Gerald R- Ford represents the first new class of carriers in 40 years. Ford served on the aircraft carrier USS Monterey during World War II.

Christening will take place at the shipyard in Newport News, Virginia this morning.
