Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler won't face charges for embezzling money from an account set aside for a charity golf event, e-mails reveal.
E-mails obtained by WOOD TV indicate criminal charges won't be filed against Roesler.
"Police say he paid most of the money back in what he said were inadvertent withdrawals that started in 2008 and ended in 2011," the report stated.
Roesler admitted to taking $2,290 from the account to pay for university textbooks for his children and their gasoline. He said he believed the money was coming from his personal bank account.
