Nonprofit Law Firm Taking Autocam Case to US Supreme Court

The Chicago-based Thomas More Society has said it will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case involving Kentwood-based Autocam and whether the corporation can refuse without penalty to provide health insurance coverage for contraception.

Earlier this week the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held the company, which is a secular-based corporation, could not claim the rights under the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act to challenge the health insurance requirement in the federal Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.
