Prelim for Baby Kate's Father Adjourned

The preliminary hearing for the father of a Ludington baby who disappeared more than two years ago has been adjourned for three months.

Sean Phillips, 23, was scheduled for hearing in Mason County District Court Wednesday on open murder and other charges. According to court officials, the hearing was rescheduled for January 9, 2014 to give PhillipsÂ’' attorney time to prepare.

Phillips (pictured) is accused of killing his infant daughter, known as Baby Kate, who vanished from her mother's home in June 2011 when she was just four months old. Her body has never been found.

Phillips is currently lodged at the Carson City Correctional Facility, the state prison where he is serving a sentence of 10 to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment connected to the baby's disappearance.

Phillips could face up to life in prison if convicted of the murder charge.

The attorney general's office is prosecuting the case.
