Today Begins 2013 Season for Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions open their 2013 season today as they host the Minnesota Vikings. Last season the Vikes swept the Lions, which included a 20-13 win in Detroit in late September.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams has been ruled out of Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions due to a hyperextended right knee. Williams was injured during the team's third preseason game against San Francisco when he was hit low by 49ers offensive guard Joe Looney.

Lions' rookie defensive end Ziggy Ansah, who recently suffered a concussion, is listed as "probable" for today's game.
