Unlocked Cars Equal Criminal Opportunity in Hudsonville Wednesday

Since you'd take your keys when leaving your vehicle, Ottawa County Detectives think a couple more safety steps are appropriate.

Fourteen people in Hudsonville learned the hard way Wednesday morning when they found loose change and small electronics items missing. Captain Mark Bennett with the Investigative Division of the Sheriff's Office said it all could have been avoided. "Residents should lock vehicles and remove items from them that have any value."

Capt. Bennett said this activity took place east of 32nd Avenue and south of Chicago, near Van Buren Street, Wilson Avenue, North Bluff Drive and North Bluff Court. "Investigators do have some leads and are following up at this point."
