UPDATED: FBI Search at Barry County Sheriff's Department for OIG

The Barry County Sheriff's Office said there isn't anything illegal happening within his department.

However, Barry County Commissioner Craig Stolsonburg said he was caught off guard by the ordeal.

Michigan State Police confirmed the FBI executed a search warrant Wednesday at the Barry County Sheriff’s Department, according to WOOD TV.

Federal investigators seized some computers as part of a fraud investigation, but they said very little about that investigation.

The FBI told WOOD TV on Friday that their search Wednesday was assisting the Office of Inspector General, within the Department of Justice.

The mission of the Office of Inspector General is to uncover waste fraud, abuse and misconduct within Department of Justice programs and personnel.

A sheriff did comment saying along the lines of the same thing as the Barry County Sheriff, "We're OK. We're working with them (the FBI) on an investigation," however no further details were given.
