A 34-year-old woman is facing murder charges in the shooting death of a 35-year old man in southwest Michigan.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough has charged Maria Audrey-Louise Williams of Burr Oak with one count of open murder and one count of felony firearm in connection with the death of Dennis Brooks, also of Burr Oak.
Brooks was found dead Thursday with a single gunshot wound to the head on a rural road in Burr Oak Township.
McDonough said the weapon used was a .38 caliber handgun.
According to the Sturgis Journal, police said after shooting Brooks, Williams drove to a home in Burr Oak where she called 911 reporting that she had been involved in a domestic situation and shooting. Authorities say the woman led investigators to the shooting scene and was arrested.
The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated to investigate the shooting.
