A Grand Rapids man was convicted today for a string of gas station robberies, but he's back in court for another trial prior to his sentencing in August.
Willie Lee Wilson Williams returned to the media's attention last September when he reportedly attacked a Kent County Correctional facility staffer after hiding near his medium security cell. He'd been locked up in late July for five robberies in a 45 minute period in Grand Rapids, Walker and Wyoming.
WOOD TV reports Williams had the option of three plea deals, but rejected them back in March. A Kent County jury found him guilty today on a total of eleven counts, including his status as a habitual offender. He's before another jury next week, accused of four charges for the jail attack.
