UPDATED: 99,000 Affected by Power Outages

Consumers Energy crews are working to restore power outages resulting from thunder storms and high winds that swept across Michigan Saturday.

In total 99,000 Michigan customers are affected from roughly Muskegon to Flint.

Vice President of Energy Delivery for the utility, Mary Palkovich said, "Our priority is to make an area safe whenever a storm causes wires to come down, then to work quickly to safely restore energy services for our communities."

Line crews worked through the night Saturday and will continue to restore power to customers as more storms are expected throughout the day and evening Sunday and Monday.

Crews are focusing their efforts most heavily to areas hit the hardest by the storms. Those counties hit hardest in West Michigan include: Ionia (4,880); Kent (17,550); Mason (960); Mecosta (10,465); Montcalm (8,400); Muskegon (29,560); Newaygo (2,050); Oceana (580); Osceola (320); and Ottawa (595).
