Final Piece of USS Gerald R. Ford Primary Hull Structure Lifted into Place

Work continues on the aircraft carrier that will become the USS Gerald R. Ford.  In this May 8 photo from the Navy, the 1,050-metric ton gantry crane at Newport News Shipbuilding lifts the forward end of one of the catapults of the vessel into place. This completes more than three years of structural work, making the primary hull structure of the aircraft carrier 100 percent complete.
